George and Petrina Babcock have dedicated their entire careers to the health and well-being of our community; George as Executive Vice President of Coastal Medical and Petrina as Director of Operations, Department of Pediatrics at Women & Infants Hospital. Through their work, they have played integral roles in ensuring that our community has the best in medical care, at every stage of life. “We are so fortunate to have such exceptional services right in our region,” notes George, “so that we can receive care at, or close to home.”

George joined the HopeHealth Board, originally in the late 1990s, when it was still located in Pawtucket. “I learned so much about HopeHealth in those early days. Where it wanted to go as an organization and what resources it would need to keep growing for our community.” However, while HopeHealth’s programs were expanding, so too were the demands for George’s time at work and he had to step away from the Board.  

In 2010, George was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, and while he wasn’t quite at retirement age, he decided to spend the remainder of his life doing what he wanted to do – traveling, sailing, and volunteering for organizations where he could make a difference. 

“This diagnosis was not going to stop me,” George shared, “but it did have me thinking about my own life, and how to really give back to my community, to really help. Of course, that meant rejoining the HopeHealth Board.” 

The couple were thrilled to see the incredible growth in services that HopeHealth provides patients and their families. They knew they had to make sure HopeHealth could continue to serve this community for decades to come. So, they decided to make HopeHealth part of their estate plan with a legacy gift.

“Petrina and I talked about the impact HopeHealth has had on so many with its focus on compassion, dignity, peace,” George recalls, “and decided to make HopeHealth part of our estate plan with a legacy gift.” 

In addition to important tax benefits, the Babcock’s planned gift will enable HopeHealth to meet the needs of patients, their families, and the entire community, today and in the future. 

“It has been inspiring to me and Petrina, to leave a legacy gift to HopeHealth, knowing that through our will, we will be part of caring for thousands of patients and their families in this very important way,” George says.
